Serenity Funeral Home Goldsboro NC Announces the Passing of Annie Bea Williams

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Annie Bea Williams, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend to many. Annie Bea passed away on July 9, 2023, at ECU Health Duplin Hospital surrounded by her loved ones.

Annie Bea was born on June 7, 1950, in Wayne County to the late Lenora Bynum Kornegay and the late George Kornegay Jr. She grew up in Mount Olive, NC, where she received her education from Wayne County Public School. Annie Bea was a member of G.W. Mark FWB Church of Mount Olive until her health started to decline, when she began attending First Baptist Church Calypso with her family.

Annie Bea married Samuel Williams of Goldsboro, NC in the early 1970s and spent 32 years employed at Butterball LLC before retiring. She was known to many as 'Annie Bea' for her kind heart and warm smile. Her love for cooking was renowned, and her signature dishes were always a delight to anyone who tried them. Annie Bea also enjoyed trying new recipes and experimenting with different flavors.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and memories with her family, including her husband, Samuel Williams; daughters, Laura Ann Kornegay and Georgetta (Wayne) Kornegay; son, Dashawn Kornegay; grandchildren, Demarlo T. Simmons, Ezekiel Simmons, Jahmarion Rivers, and 18 great-grandchildren. Annie Bea is also survived by her sisters, Katrina (Jobenel) Jose and Violeat L Kornegay; brother, Anthony 'Tyrone' Kornegay; and aunt, Lillian Ashford.

In addition to her parents, Annie Bea was preceded in death by her brothers, David E. Kornegay.

A celebration of Annie Bea's life will be held at a later date. The Management and Staff of Williams & Ashford Funeral Directors join with the Kornegay, Williams, and connected families to announce the earthly departure of Mrs. Annie Bea Williams.
